My 9-Step Night Skincare Routine for Glowing Skin (Complete Guide 2026)

If you want to wake up with glowing, hydrated skin, your night routine is where things need to happen. While you sleep, your skin goes into "repair mode", making the PM the perfect time to layer on treatments, serums, and rich moisturizers that work overnight. I've built an 8-step night skincare routine using affordable products from Amazon that genuinely deliver results. The entire routine costs under $200, but you can customize it based on your budget and skin's needs.

Step 1. Oil Cleanser

to remove make up and sunscreen.
To get the full benefit of my oil cleanser I like to remove my make up before hand simply with water on a micro fibre cloth (like one of these).

Product: Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil - $20

Oil cleansers are the first step in double cleansing, and they're essential for breaking down makeup, sunscreen, and oil-based impurities that water-based cleansers can't remove on their own. The Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil is a lightweight oil that effortlessly melts away the day and even waterproof makeup. Infused with ginseng and soybean oil, it also nourishes your skin while removing those impurities.

Key ingredients:
  • Ginseng Seed Oil: Known for powerful antioxidant properties that revitalize and energize the skin.
  • Soybean Oil: Rich in Vitamin E, helps dissolve makeup while keeping skin soft and hydrated.
  • Micellar Cleansing Technology: Attracts and lifts away dirt and oil without harsh scrubbing.
Why it's in our routine:
Even if you don't wear makeup, sunscreen and daily pollutants build up on your skin. An oil cleanser ensures you're starting with a completely clean canvas before layering all your treatments. This one is gentle enough for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Find it on Amazon.

Step 2. Water Based Cleanser

the second step for a deeper clean.

Product: Medicube PDRN Marshmallow Whip Cleanser - $20

After removing oil-based impurities, you need a water-based cleanser to remove any remaining dirt, sweat, and residue. The Medicube PDRN Marshmallow Whip Cleanser is a fun one, starting as a pink, marshmallow-like texture that transforms into a soft, creamy foam once you start massaging it into your skin. It's got Salmon DNA PDRN and niacinamide to brighten and improve your skin texture while cleansing deeply without stripping your skin.

Key ingredients:
  • Salmon DNA PDRN: Supports skin repair and improves texture and tone.
  • Niacinamide: Refines pores and brightens uneven skin tone.
  • Hyaluronic Acid & Ceramides: Keep skin hydrated and protect the moisture barrier.
Why it's in our routine:
Double cleansing ensures your skin is truly clean and this cleanser does a great job while also leaving your skin soft, hydrated and glowing. Not tight and feeling stripped.

Step 3. Exfoliator

can be used daily if your skin feels up to it.

Product: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner - $13.50

Exfoliation is how you remove dead skin cells and and reveal your brighter, smoother skin underneath. I use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toner every single night as part of my routine. Some days it stings, some days it doesn't. It's a gentle enough chemical exfoliant enriched with glycolic acid, aloe, ginseng, and Tasmanian Pepperberry to smooth texture, even out tone, and boost radiance without harsh scrubbing or irritation.

Key ingredients:
  • Glycolic Acid: An AHA that dissolves dead skin cells on the surface, revealing smoother skin.
  • Tasmanian Pepperberry: A The Ordinary classic ingredient that reduces irritation and redness.
  • Aloe & Ginseng: Both soothe and hydrate while the acids do their thing.
Why it's in our routine:
Regular exfoliation prevents dullness, improves texture, and allows your other products to absorb better. I apply this with a cotton pad after cleansing and my skin genuinely looks brighter and feels smoother even immediately after I use it.

Alternatives:
This is the point in my routine where I use a red light mask for ten minutes.

Step 4. Calming Toner

to hydrate and prep for the upcoming serums.

Product: Numbuzin No.3 Super Glowing Essence Toner - $16.60

After exfoliating, your skin needs hydration and soothing. The Numbuzin No.3 is a fermented essence toner that delivers deep hydration while calming any potential irritation. Did I start using this after it was recommended by Hudson Williams? Yes. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. It's got great fermented ingredients which, because they're fermented, they're smaller particles that penetrate the skin more easily.

Key ingredients:
  • Bifida Ferment Filtrate: Fermented ingredient that strengthens the skin barrier and promotes a healthy glow.
  • Niacinamide: Brightens uneven tone, reduces hyperpigmentation and refines pores.
  • Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate: Hydrates deeply and improves skin texture.
Why it's in our routine:
This one also delivers serious hydration to counteract any dryness from exfoliation, and the fermented ingredients help keep your skin barrier strong and healthy. I've noticed my skin looks clearer and more radiant since adding this to my routine. (Thank you Mr. Williams)

Alternatives:

Step 5. Serum

to bring in some targeted treatment.

Product: Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum - $17

The serum or even serums are where you target specific skin concerns. The Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum is a really great serum for tackling uneven skin tone, dullness and dehydration. It's really hydrating, helps to control oil production and soothes any irritation. My go to serum is always something containing niacinamide due to its effects.

Key ingredients:
  • Propolis Extract: Natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It's also deeply hydrating.
  • Niacinamide: Brightens, strengthens your skin barrier and improves texture.
Why it's in our routine:
This serum genuinely does what it promises by delivering immediate glow, smoother texture and balanced oil production.

Alternatives:
But this is the step where you can layer up or switch it up during the week to target other things. For example, Azelaic Acid for redness and blemishes, Vitamin C for brightening and skin tone, or PDRN for skin revitalization and hydration.

Retinol Option (1-2x per week):

If you're targeting anti-aging concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, swap your regular serum for a retinol treatment 1-2 times per week.

Product: CORSX Retinol 0.1% Cream - $21

This gentle retinol cream helps firm skin, reduce wrinkles, and improve texture without the irritation that higher-strength retinols can cause. It's perfect for beginners or those with sensitive skin.

Retinol Alternatives:

Step 6. Eye Cream

for the delicate under eye area.

Product: Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum - $16.99

The skin around your eyes is more delicate than the rest of your face, so it likes its own targeted treatment. The Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum combines retinal with niacinamide to tackle dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles. It's lightweight, absorbs quickly, and doesn't cause any irritation or sensitivity.

Key ingredients:
  • Retinal: A really effective form of Vitamin A that reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Niacinamide: Brightens dark circles and strengthens the skin barrier.
  • Peptides: Support collagen production for firmer-looking skin.
Why it's in the routine:
Consistent eye cream use prevents and reduces signs of aging around the eyes. I gently pat this under and around my eyes every night, and if I've pumped out too much product it goes on the rest of my face too. I've noticed my under-eye area looks brighter and smoother.

Alternatives:

Step 7. Hydrating Oil

this is a bonus step for an extra moisture boost.

Product: SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule - $22

My secret weapon for extra hydration: The SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule. Formulated with 100% pure Centella Asiatica extract from Madagascar, it's incredibly soothing, strengthens your skin barrier, and delivers deep hydration without any heaviness.

Key ingredients:
  • Centella Asiatica Extract: Soothes irritation, reduces redness, strengthens skin barrier, and promotes healing.
Why it's in the routine:
Using actives like retinol and exfoliants, it's important that you hydrate to the max. This ampoule is so gentle and effective that I use it nearly every night. It absorbs so quickly I feel like my skin really needs it. It's a product that's always stocked in my cabinet.

Step 8. Moisturizer

to seal everything in.

Product: AESTURA ATOBARRIER365 Cream - $22

Your moisturizer is the final seal that locks in all the treatments, serums, and hydration you've layered on. The AESTURA ATOBARRIER365 Cream strengthens your skin, provides lasting hydration and really protects your skin. It's rich, absorbs well and is perfect for dry and sensitive skin.

Key ingredients:
  • Ceramide Capsules: Restore and strengthen the skin barrier, locking in moisture.
  • Panthenol: Soothes and calms irritation.
  • Shea Butter: Nourishes and softens skin.
Why it's in the routine:
If I can use the moisturizer in the AM and am able to layer make-up on top of it, then it's not the right PM moisturizer. And this cream is definitely a night cream. This cream is rich but doesn't clog my pores, it keeps my skin plump, hydrated and soft all night.
